Biography

Lori Nelson has more than 30 years of agency and consulting experience in the behavioral health field.  Her increasing responsibilities include top level executive, advisory, strategic planning and compliance roles.

Lori has had an impact on the strategic, operational, compliance, and fiscal health of several organizations.  She has administered corporate compliance and risk management programs and facilitated adherence to Joint Commission standards and local, state and federal licensing and funding requirements.  

With a Master’s in Adult Clinical Psychology from Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville, licensed as a clinical professional counselor and certified as a supervisory level addictions counselor, she has a solid knowledge of behavioral healthcare practices.

She has been a featured speaker at state and national events.  Since 1982, she has provided training to the general public, including live network radio broadcasts on wellness and self-improvement.

In 2001, Nelson co-authored a book with fellow presenter Randy Hayes, A Handbook of Quality Change and Implementation, C&R Publications, that outlined tools to facilitate change in behavioral health organizations in order to build efficiencies, measure clinical outcomes and monitor agency performance.  She has contributed to numerous articles on performance improvement and corporate compliance.

Nelson has served as a member of a high school board, as well as a board member and volunteer in the areas of youth development, domestic violence and sexual abuse.
